Lisa is learning a script when Willy Braque (in pilot's uniform) arrives home. They have sex and go off in his car. Maude Carolle and Charlie Schreiner arrive and get in the house by the back door. They are having sex when another couple arrive looking for the manuscript but ending up also having sex. When Maude and Charlie are discovered trying to sneak out, it turns into a foursome. Mika and her partner arrive with similar results, then along comes a redhead, in a white transparent body stocking and cat burglar mask, and begins to search for the manuscript as well. Charlie catches her and she too is drawn into the orgy. Then the first couple come back and catch them all at it. Strange how in porn films such moments always come after rather than before the cum shot! But it all ends amicably with them and Maude and Charlie having drinks on the terrace then Lisa and Maude, nude, tripping off across the lawn. Who knows what was meant to be going on?

The son of Emperor Franz Josef of Austria, Crown Prince Rudolf, is believed to have shot his female lover and himself in a tragic suicide pact in 1882 in Mayerling. Due to Imperial cover-ups, the full story may never be known. This story has been filmed several times, in French in 1935 and in English in 1968. Hungarian director Miklos Jancso recreates those events for his own purposes, continuing his favored theme of the rejection of paternal authority. In the film, which has very little dialog, Rudolf is a good-natured pan-sexual golden boy, who cavorts on his rural estate with a host of beautiful, aristocratic lovers and friends of both sexes. He refuses to leave his country idyll even though he has been ordered to by the Emperor, his father. Despite the fact that for a large part of the film, attractive young people go about unclothed and engaging in erotic encounters, the mood is one of melancholy rather than prurience. The Prince is a political liberal who wishes to arrange things so that the Emperor will arrest him, creating a public scandal which will provide a rallying point for the opposition. Instead, when the expected troops come, Rudolf's sensuous friends loyally ward off the Imperial officers, humiliating them in the process. In this case when it's directed by late "real world" celebrity John Derek, a man better known for his marriages to some of the world's most glamorous women (Ursula Andress, Linda Evans and Bo Derek) than for his efforts both in front (ADVENTURES OF HAJJI BABA) and behind (BOLERO) the cameras. LOVE YOU is one of those rare films that straddles the no man's land between pornography and traditional cinema and considerably more erotic than other attempts to do so like Curt McDowell's strangely perverse – or should that be the other way round ? – THUNDERCRACK or Candida Royalle's downbeat sci fi sex saga REVELATIONS. Of course, not everyone agrees on this assessment. Many a porn critic, including the late and usually great Jim Holliday, has taken the movie to task for lacking the type of sex scenes they assume genre fans want.

The Debauchers (1972) - Sidney Knight

Its subject matter being the making of an "experimental movie", The Debauchers is an experiment itself: taking the tried-and-true (and cheap) Warhol/Morrissey invention of confrontational improvised dialog (SEE: any Ondine performance) and making it work in a nasty, hardcore domination opus. The film was difficult to watch, and frankly distasteful, but a la the in-your-face Italian movies of Alberto Cavallone, worth the effort. Terry Levene distributed the film back in the day, and it is one of his most unusual titles.

Filmmaker Sidney Knight has made several interesting works but I wasn't prepared for the downright cruelty here. One reason is that I was misled by the AFI Catalog 1961-1970's inclusion of this title as circa 1970; it was made later, during the hardcore era. Credits are mainly crude pseudonyms, though Knight is listed on-screen.

No-budget SF-SEX esoterica with a very effective performance by Lina as the tragic Cynthia. This film has very little dialogue and an outre ambience supported by a soundtrack which includes strange, industrial type sounds, minimalist locations, and, in this longer version, a weird extended boat ride down a river with white horses and exotic animals on its banks.
