A Farewell to Arms, and Legs, and Breasts, and...
8 November 2008 | by Dirtymoviedevotee (dries.vermeulen@hotmail.be) (Brugge, Belgium) – See all my reviews

As porn's theatrical age drew to a close in the Old Country, Parisian field leader Alpha France decided to pull out all the stops for its final production (though cinemas continued for a while longer exhibiting purchased product) and wisely gave its in house director Claude Bernard-Aubert – a/k/a "Burd Tranbaree" – Carte Blanche for what was to prove his farewell to fornication films as well. With an alleged cast of 36, a veritable Who's Who of the period though many of them restricted to orgy action, Tranbaree did not stray too far from his comfortable habitat, i.e. the upwardly mobile middle class of the French capital. While this favored choice of protagonist had stifled many a previous cinematic endeavor, he finally got the recipe right and managed to elicit audience sympathy for the plight of the socially pampered. Much of the film's success can be attributed to leading lady Cathy Menard, a fine actress with hauntingly sad eyes, who delivers an absolute career performance – along with her very different turn in Gérard Kikoïne's scathing BOURGEOISE…ET PUTE! – as apparently prototypical bored housewife Babeth. Yet it's not her ennui which propels the pornographic proceedings but rather the dissatisfaction of her horn dog husband Léopold (stalwart Richard "Allan" Lemieuvre still shedding new light on familiar territory) who has been stringing along several mistresses to supplement the routine bedroom action he gets at home.

Secrétariat Privé (1981) - Claude Bernard-Aubert

e.orgazmik.com
The happy go lucky secretariat near the Eiffel-tower is populated by a group of sex-crazed office workers. If you take a job as secretary here, be prepared to work on your knees, not just sharpening pencils. For special services, the female employees on occasion get awarded a gold penis. At the end there's the obligatory group-sex session on the rather dusty office-floor.

Fievres Nocturnes (1978) - Claude Bernard-Aubert

Jean-Louis Vattier dreams about his lovely downstairs neighbor, Brigitte Lahaie, although his dreams occasionally turn into nightmares involving his hard hat co-worker Dominique Aveline. One particularly strange and violent sequence is not made any more watchable by some slow motion fighting accompanied by the usual 'arousing' sax music instead of more threatening music, but this entire film is one big incomprehensible trip anyway, so the viewer had better prepare for more far out scenes. Pierre awakes to find his beautiful blond wife (although she's no Brigitte) played by Ursula White. Obviously their marriage is in trouble, with him living in a fantasy world of his own making while she, Janine, has taken a lover of the same sex (Liliane Lemieuvre as Rosette). Pierre spots Brigitte in a book store and begins to fantasize once more. The, erm, ejaculation shot is most definitely a fantasy! Then he goes home to dream about himself sharing Brigitte with his wife. Well at least he hasn't completely forgotten about his spouse. In return, she has arranged an appointment with a psychiatrist, Madame Gabrielle Dullan, an older lady, who non the less is as sexually liberated (or should that be unrestrained) as everyone else: she let's him fondle her bosom while he tells her his woes. Naturaly, he drifts off into Lalaland once more, this time also including the shrink's maid, while her employer gets to watch.

Bourgeoises en chaleur aka French Gigolo (1977) - Claude Bernard-Aubert

Synopsis:
The film opens with a 30-something brown-haired woman (Ursula White) approaching the door of a house, turning back and then summoning up the courage to go in. She looks as if she could be Erika Cool's older sister, but does not have such a distinctive face. Daniele Troeger is the maid who takes her coat. She is introduced to a 30-something woman who runs the establishment and is shown a catalogue of men. One picture is of Richard Lemieuvre, but most are of Charlie Schreiner. She is then introduced to a near lookalike in the form of Gabriel Coez. He gives her a good time. We then see him giving a folder of documents to a mature blonde (Amanda) and asking her to sign them. Is she another client?

Couple 'libéré' cherche compagne 'libérée' (1982) - Claude Bernard-Aubert

From egafd:
Marianne Aubert and Guy Royer are an unmarried swinging couple. They seduce every female or male they encounter, it seems. We seem them reading the paper (presumably the personal ads) while having sex.
Cathy Stewart arrives to do some typing for Guy. He seduces her, but runs off in disgust when Marianne tries to join in. The next typist, Laura Clair has no such inhibitions, however.
Next Guy arrives home to find Marianne talking to a friend (Obaya Roberts) while her husband (Jean-Pierre Armand) fixes their car in the street. The friend beckons him up to the apartment for a swinging session and he arrives to find Guy having sex with his wife. A foursome soon develops.

Le Retour des Veuves (1979) - Claude Bernard-Aubert

The film opens with Jean-Pierre Armand and a male, presumably Gregory, being entertained by two strippers. One is blonde (XNK0388, but this could be Danièle David with curlier hair) and the other brunette (Sophie Duflot). They strip then dress then have sex with the two men.
Then Gregory looks up the death notices in Le Figaro and the theme of Veuves en chaleur resumes, but with more comedy - very Carry-On style. They disagree on tactics, however. Jean-Pierre thinks a visit is better, Gregory favours a letter of condolence.
The first widow is Brigitte Lahaie. Jean-Pierre visits her and calls her Madame ..., but, tearfully, she says "Appelez-moi Madeleine." So he turns away and shouts "Madeleine!" thinking Madeleine is the maid. This gives her the giggles and leads to a b/g scene.
