Révolution [French Cut] (1985) - José Bénazéraf

http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/552/revolution2u.jpg

A coup d'etat turns into a menage a trois when the amorous ambassador from the fictitious South American country of Youraway and his more-than-willing wife [Olinka Hardiman ] pay a state visit to El Presidente at his palace. This sexual revolution is out of control as El Presidente's wife tries a little foreign intervention on the ambassador by adding raunchy new dimensions to the "Good Neighbour Policy". Not to be outdone, El Presidente takes Olinka on a tour of the palace and they soon indulge in a little target practice that proves to be the "Bang Heard Around The World". This is one erotic uprising you will not soon forget.

These gendarmes go for the gusto using their “nightsticks” to probe the girls for information. Then the owners of the villa show up and are mistaken as thieves but it really doesn’t matter. They seem to enjoy “the intrusion” even more then the girls do!

Bedside Manor (1985) - José Bénazéraf

This bed 'n' breakfast is the perfect place to work on your bedside "manner". At her palatial estate, trampy Miss Isabel is interviewing private-duty nurses to take care of Jacques, her horny bedridden cousin. But, the only one who ends up getting "bed ridden" are the nurses. Welcome to Bedside Manor, a very hot property where more than the roof gets raised. European superstud Gabriel Pontello is on hand to service Miss Isabel and the nurses. And what about that lecherous cousin? Well, the old fool gets so fired up watching some torrid girl-girl action, he hosts an all-star orgy that's a blowout bunny-banging bonanza!

Frustration aka The Chambermaid's Dream (1971) - José Bénazéraf

Synopsis:
"This French film is a combination psychological drama and softcore porn film. The story revolves around the fantasies of a disturbed woman whose love interests begin in childhood with her father, and later devolve onto her mother. In the film, she has already transferred her obsessions to her sister and her sister's husband. She fantasizes them having all sorts of sexual encounters. One day she walks in on them while they are having sex and joins in. This change from fantasy to real experience does her no good, and the story reaches a tragic conclusion."

Adolescence Pervertie (1974) - José Bénazéraf

Quote:
Having seen virtually all of Jose Benazeraf's mainly excellent softcore 1960s movies and a good selection (over a dozen) of his later XXX offerings I was unprepared for this off-the-wall 1974 transitional film. This is one case where the dreaded "auteur's explanation" that accompanies so many wretched DVDs would be helpful.
I will offer my own pet theory, certainly wrong but convincing enough for me. I contend that Jose found the chance to travel to Italy and film an Italian co-production to be an irresistible opportunity to lampoon the then-current trend of Italian cinema to make sexy left-wing film tracts. Not like the Godard tracts of the '60s, but many wonderful and hokey movies that I love, like Ugo Tognazzi fighting the class struggle against Romy Schneider in LA CALIFFA or any of the Bellocchio efforts of the time.

Perverse Isabelle (1975) - José Bénazéraf

Two crooks flee in a stolen Ford Mustang. they have stolen it from the husband of the girl they rape in the forest. They take her with them to their refuge, a nice modern villa in the countryside. Here, their boss or protector is not so pleased with this girl: this was not planned. But his wife (the one with curly hair) is a lesbian, so she is very pleased with the girl, who has sex with everyone (the two crooks, the boss, his wife, her maid, the girlfriends of the crooks). At the end, the boss hires a killer, who kills the two crooks. And before we reach that scene, there is a long orgy scene with obsessive music, another surprising editing by Bénazéraf

Baise-moi partout AKA Attention, je vais jouir (1978) - José Bénazéraf

Synopsis:
Upper-class Madame Vinclair (Karine Gambier) has sex with a teacher she obviously knows although despising him for being working class. She starts the scene talking about his sticking up political posters and compares him to Georges Marchais (leader of the French Communist Party at the time) and François Mitterand (then leader of the Socialist Party, but not yet President - that will come three years later). Throughout the scene Madame Vinclair alludes to his proletarian prick and asks him what it's like to fuck a bourgeoise.
Meanwhile, Dominique, the housekeeper (Cathy Stewart), has it off with her boyfriend, Nicolas, Madame Vinclair's woodcutter, in the kitchen. Contrary to most of Stewart's scenes where she looks quite distant (that is to my eyes, but I may be wrong) this time she really looks as if she is enjoying it. Notice the direct sound, not so frequent as far as she is concerned (not so frequent as far as Karine Gambier is concerned either). All through the scene Stewart keeps on with her girlish talk about their future holidays in Morocco. Her best scene as far as I know - with the one coming up in two or three minutes!

Bordel SS (1978) - José Bénazéraf

Quote:
Nazisploitation porn film (an interesting combo) about a Paris bordello where willing women pleasure high-ranking members of the SS for cash. High productions values make this a classier affair than it has any right to be. Sets and costumes are impressive and definitely add to the enjoyment of the film. There are even a few period vehicles on display. The hardcore scenes are in limited supply and of varying quality. The first FFM sex scene is the highlight of the bunch. Some lesbian scenes try to spice up the second half of the film but the action is strictly softcore and bland. Thankfully, the lovely Brigitte Lahaie is on hand to add significant eye candy throughout (here still a brunette, a few years before her trademark blonde look). Exploitive elements are kept to a minimum but include some sexual bondage and a scene where one of the prostitutes thoroughly washes her vagina after sex with a commander. There’s also a gunshot suicide and a scene where one of the women is accused of spying on the Nazis and is tortured with live wires after being stripped and bound. Definitely not a film for everyone, but those familiar with daring 70’s porn films should know what to expect.

La Bonne auberge (1977) - José Bénazéraf

"If an established film director such as Monsieur Benazeraf tries his hands at pornography, one should expect a superior example of the genre. Sadly, this picture does not live up to this expectation. Apparently shot in two versions, the porn version is a complete mess, with dreadful continuity errors: quite clearly, someone did not give a toss. The cast of unknowns fails to capture the screen, especially the dull-as-dishwater males."

José Bénazéraf - Joë Caligula - Du suif chez les dabes (1966)

http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/575/bd2jn37tj178nj7b.jpg

One of the most famous Bénazéraf 60s flick....
Albert Camus's Caligula in a film noir context, with more sex, more violence.....

Next : L'enfer sur la plage (1965) (not to be confused with sin on the beach, english title for L'éternité pour nous (1961))

And I stole Yann's description from the dvd r (forgive me...) :
A group of aspiring young thugs from Marseilles move in on established gangsters. They spend the time torturing, killing and intimidating the gangsters until they either pay up or die. One punk with a sexual attraction for his sister is turned in by the girl after a degrading sex scene. The newcomers shake down bars and bistros in their efforts to become part of the violent and brutal criminal underworld. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide

Anthology of Forbidden Scenes (1975) - José Bénazéraf

José Bénazéraf shows scenes from his films which were originally censored because they were considered pornographic or subversive. This doc itself was edited from JB-1[1975] which included longer hardcore scenes from the "The Hideout" films.

Nuit la plus longue AKA Sexus (1964) - José Bénazéraf

http://i.imgur.com/JcKaU.jpg

Review
As we all often learn in life, it's the little, simple things that can have a big impact. Bénazéraf doesn't go for complexity here, and his plot is pretty simple for the most part. Yet Sexus does leave it's mark on the mind, and sometimes a director can communicate things without even realising it. With it's odd framing device, throbbing score and luminous imagery, Bénazéraf lets us in on his obsessions, and if you are in the right frame of mind, you can dive right in with him into the whirlpool. I look forward to covering more of his films in these pages. Though not quite in the realm of some of the more obvious Sinema covered here, the blood pumping under the filmic flesh would appear to be the same. It's a hip, jazzy feast for the senses, if you can track it down.

Whores' Port (1984) - José Bénazéraf

Three French prostitutes, finding the harbor docks too chilly for their scanty outfits, recess to a nearby arcade. One of them (Michelle Villers) manages to attract the attention of a male there (John Oury), and the two head off to the French equivalent of a Japanese ‘love hotel’. The other two hookers (Laura May & Marianne Aubert) catch the eye of Gabriel Pontello while playing foosball. He leaves his pinball machine to instruct them on playing tips. Marianne is plucked from the scene by a male (Richard Lemieuvre) who just won some money playing horseshoes. Off they go to the same hotel but the only room available for them is the same room which is occupied by the first couple. They have finished and are dressing, but it is still a dilemma when the hotel clerk opens the door for Richard and Marianne. The three females meet up back at the arcade. Gabriel reappears and picks up all of them by dangling the keys to his Buick Le Sabre. He drives them to his mansion. He is staging a sex party there that evening, and the three of them shall be the star attractions. His resident clothes designer, a gay male, decides to design some special outfits for the ladies. He sweats and frets and we get a glimpse all three of our females undressed. The next scene opens that evening when two other females mysteriously appear and the party begins.

Le Concerto de la peur AKA Night of lust [Uncut] (1963) - José Bénazéraf

Kidnappings, murders and gang war for the control of a drug traffic...

There's really a unique touch in those early Bénazéraf movies. You're a bit somewhere between thriller, exploitation and Nouvelle Vague...
As I understood, the version released in the US already on the site is severely cut and suffers from a ludicrous English dubbing. The movie certainly deserves better than that...
