In Hot Blood (1968) - Joel Landwehr

A model with dreams of the big time sinks into the depth of degradation in this rough-edged sexploitation opus. Rita (Doris Porro) is an attractive woman who has grown tired of working menial jobs and has decided to try her luck as a professional model. It doesn't take long for Rita to land lucrative assignments, but she also learns that the life of photographers and models is a decadent and dangerous one, and that drugs and casual sex are simply part of a typical assignment. A party after one photo shoot with fellow models Roberta (Ruth Colon) and Sandy (Dolores) quickly turns into an orgy fueled by marijuana and amphetamines, but when sex and drugs are no longer enough to give the participants their kicks, Sandy takes the action into a dangerous new direction. Shot silent with voice-over narration, In Hot Blood was directed by Joel Landwehr (aka Leo J. Rhewdnal), who also made the similarly eccentric sexploitation opus Fluctuations.

A Promise of Bed (1970) - Derek Ford

Quote:
Three part ‘trilogy of comedy’. In ‘This’ Susan Stress, a fading sex symbol attempts to win the lead in a movie by seducing the son of a film producer only to make a fool of herself in a case of mistaken identity. In ‘That’ George is a depressed middle aged loner whose suicide attempt is interrupted by the arrival of a child-like hippy girl who proceeds to turn his life on its head. While in ‘The Other’ Harold, an avid sex film fan and taxi driver, crashes his cab after being distracted by the leggy charms of his latest passenger. Suffering a thump on the head, Harold has bizarre hallucinations and ends up being chased around a forest by shapely girls.

The Stud (1978) - Quentin Masters

Quote:
Sometimes, when life is getting too much for you with lots of stupid dramas, there’s only one thing that will really cheer you up. And that’s a really classic trashy movie. If said movie happens to star Joan Collins, even better. The Stud is a movie tailor-made for these situations.

Oliver Tobias is the stud of the title, Tony Blake. He was a waiter, a poor working-class kid with big ambitions, a pretty face and a hot body. He attracted the attention of the fabulously wealthy Fontaine Khaled (Joan Collins), or rather his hot body attracted her attention. So she set him up as manager of a night-club, although his main duties are to satisfy her sexual appetites. He’s constantly on call in case she has a sexual emergency that requires immediate servicing. And this happens to Fontaine quite frequently.

The Duke of Burgundy (2014) - Peter Strickland

Synopsis: A woman who studies butterflies and moths tests the limits of her relationship with her lover.

Quote:
"This is voyeurism of a brilliant, deeply refined order. If the MPAA had a shot at rating Strickland's fantasy, they would try to condemn it without being able to explain why." - Colin Covert, Minneapolis Star Tribune

"Burgundy is a keen pastiche of 1970s Euro-sleaze and high art, and looks amazing on the big screen, calmly florid, precise yet bonkers, bristling with detail. It's preposterous, delirious and delicious." - Ray Pride, New City

"Stylistically, The Duke of Burgundy is an aesthete's dream - meticulously refined, delicate as a fritillary's wing." - Jonathan Romney, Observer UK

Bad Timing (1980) - Nicolas Roeg

The setting is Vienna. A young American woman is brought to a hospital after overdosing on pills, apparently in a suicide attempt. A police detective suspects foul play on the part of her lover, an American psychology professor. As doctors try to save her life, the detective interrogates the professor, and through flashbacks we see the events leading up to the woman's overdose; her stormy and intensely sexual relationship with the professor, her heavy drinking and numerous affairs, and her estrangement from her Czech husband. A darkly erotic study of several rather unsympathetic characters. Written by Marty Cassady

Fanny Hill (1983) - Gerry O'Hara

Poor country lass Fanny Hill sets off for London where she embarks on a series of sexual encounters in pursuit of wealth and happiness.

Quote:
Fanny Hill (Lisa Raines) is a buxom country maiden who arrives in the big city and quickly begins an affair with the scion of a wealthy family in this softcore version of an old British tale. When the clan patriarch dies, Fanny is ready to marry her lover until she discovers he has been unfaithful -- that sets her on a course of erotic adventures that begins in protest and ends in great wealth. By the time she has experienced almost every kind of sex imaginable -- or unimaginable -- she is a millionairess. Loosely based on the scandalous, 18th-century novel Fanny Hill: Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure by John Cleland, which had two different cinematic incarnations in the 1960s (by Russ Meyer and Mac Ahlberg).

Hide and Seek (2014) - Joanna Coates

In an isolated English cottage, four young people from London move in together, seeking to challenge social conventions and their own tolerances by engaging in scheduled partner-swapping.
As their inhibitions and past traumas fade, they achieve a unique kind of collective happiness but the durability of their new living arrangement is tested by the arrival of an outsider who fails to get in tune with the foursome's radical spirit.
An inventive and engaging film that uses an elegant, delicate style to gently probe both the protagonists' ideals and our own convictions about love and sex.
A genuinely radical take on current woes and wishes, Hide And Seek takes the glooms of today and transforms them into a beguiling and provocative modern fable....

Plot & Notes: Legendary UK flesh-peddler Paul Raymond's coke-fuelled, flesh-filled ode to his own awesomeness. Deliriously sleazy, but in a classy way, ya know? Sort of Raymond's New Nightmare in which Lahaie plays a photo-journalist who is interested in doing a *ahem* spread on Raymond and the girls at Raymond's clubs. Oh yeah, and have sex with anything within arms reach including a meat-packing plant worker in the back of a refrigerated truck! Loaded with glitzy post-disco strip routines, soft-core sex and an amusingly drug-induced moments.

Games Girls Play AKA The Bunny Caper AKA Sex Play (1974) - Jack Arnold

Quote:
Sultry '70s B-movie bombshell Christina Hart (THE STEWARDESSES, HELTER SKELTER) stars as Bunny O'Hara, the underage man-eating daughter of a wealthy American businessman. After sleeping her way through the brass ranks of the U.S. military, Bunny is packed off to Swinging London and a remote finishing school for wayward rich girls.

Bored in the British boondocks, Bunny leads her nubile classmates in a contest to seduce a group of foreign dignitaries visiting London for disarmament talks...the winner being the first girl to get her V.I.P. into B-E-D!

Escapist, sexist and as politically incorrect as they go, GAMES GIRLS PLAY (aka THE BUNNY CAPER) is a titillating product of its heedless time, directed with an unblinking eye by Jack Arnold (THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN) and costarring Ed Bishop (2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY).
